Cody Bank School was located on the Cody Bank near the old Bon Air No. 1 mine, together with Lance Town in the 14th Civil District.  The school was on the Cody farm before it became the Monroe Cooley farm on Cooley Ridge Road.  The school was less than one-fourth mile from the house.  No. 1 mine was located below the bluff and as far to the east as the trains went at that time.

The land was deeded to Pierce Cody from G. G. Dibrell, November 5, 1880.  The school began in the 1890’s as a subscription school.

Mrs. John Webster attended school there.
